Field Trip Weekend

Hello! Hope everyone's weekend went well.

As promised, I'll tell you about the two field trips the students went on this weekend. Saturday consisted of an adrenaline-packed visit to Six Flags New England, located in Agawam. On Sunday the students toured Boston.

I had the pleasure of going on the Six Flags trip on Saturday. It was a very enjoyable Saturday, the weather was perfect and the lines were somewhat long but bearable. The students enjoyed these conditions as much as I did, and took advantage of the water park as well.

The students roamed the whole park, choosing the rides they enjoyed the most. Bizarro, previously considered the #1 steel roller coaster on the planet, was definitely a favorite. They also enjoyed rides like Batman and Mind Eraser (great name for a ride, don't you think?)

By the end of the day all of the students were tired from the long day, but you could see they'd had a great time. They brought back many different souvenirs, from superhero capes to Mexican hats.

Unfortunately I did't go on the Boston Trip on Sunday, but our PAs did! Around 50 students embarked on a bus to Boston. The students had two options for the day, either whale watching or the Museum of Science.

Once they got divided into their groups, they took one of the famous Duck Boat tours around town. Afterwards those who chose the Museum of Science had lunch at the Riverview Café and then explored the many exhibits in the Museum. Later in the day they enjoyed the IMAX movie “Journey to the South Pacific” and met back up with the rest of the group at the iconic Quincy Market.

While those students roamed the halls of the Museum of Science, the whale watching group headed to the Wharf and set sail on a catamaran. They enjoyed a three hour trip to the ocean, where the search for whales began. Back on land, the group headed to Quincy Market.

Both groups enjoyed dinner there and explored Fanueil Hall at their leisure while waiting for the bus ride back to Amherst.

The two weekend trips definitely helped students get away from the monotony of staying in the same place for more than a week, so hopefully they feel refreshed for the coming week!
