2 Pre-College Summer Programs for Sports Fans

    Dreaming of a career in sports? From producing the stories you see on ESPN to organizing major sporting events such as the World Cup, a wide range of career opportunities exist in the sports world.

    This summer, UMass Amherst is giving high school students a chance to go behind the scenes of two real-life career paths in the sports industry. Join teens from around the country for 2-week pre-college programs in Sport Management and Sports Broadcasting. Attend one or both back-to-back, and spend your summer learning from the pros.

    Sport Management & Leadership Academy (July 9 - 22, 2017)
    Do you ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes of the Olympic games or what happens during the day-to-day operations of a professional sports team? Immerse yourself in the business of sports at the world's #1 ranked Sport Management program. Learn more

    Sports Broadcasting (July 23 - August 5, 2017)
    Love sports? Love broadcast journalism? You’ll love this 2-week hands-on sports broadcasting program at UMass Journalism. Learn the basics of sports broadcasting in our new state-of-the-art broadcast studio with experienced UMass Journalism faculty as your teachers. You’ll learn about story idea generation, game preparation, interviewing, script writing, camera work, video/audio editing and on-air presentation. Learn more



    Cutting-Edge Facilities, World Renowned Faculty

    The Sport Management & Leadership Academy is hosted by the #1 ranked Sport Management department on the globe. Students will learn practical sports business applications and industry insights from world renowned faculty and industry-leading alumni.

    In Sports Broadcasting, pre-college program students will learn and practice on the latest video, audio and photography equipment. UMass Amherst's Integrative Learning Center features a modern broadcast studio and multimedia classrooms designed for team-based learning.
